The Alpine Team has announced that Alpine Linux 2.7.3, a community-developed operating system designed for x86 Routers, Firewalls, VPNs, VoIP, and servers, is now available for download.

Alpine Linux 2.7.3 has received a lot of updates, and a few of them are for important packages. One of the most notable is the implementation of a new Linux kernel, namely 3.10.25.

A number of important applications have been updated. For example, varnish has been updated to version 3.0.5, GIMP has been upgraded to build 2.8.10, PHP has been updated to version 5.5.7, and MySQL has been upgraded to version 5.5.35.

Other major changes a fix for rdrand engine as default, stdout is now flushed after the log message, and various security fixes have been implemented.
