The Alpine Team has just announced that Alpine Linux 2.6.6, a community-developed operating system designed for x86 Routers, Firewalls, VPNs, VoIP, and servers, is now available for download.

Alpine Linux 2.6.6 has received a huge number of changes and new features, and one of the most important is the implementation of a new Linux kernel, namely 3.10.17.

A number of important applications have been updated. For example, gnupg has been updated to version 2.0.22, FFMpeg has been updated to version 1.2.4, PHP has been updated 5.4.21, Roundcube has been updated to version 0.9.5, and much more.

Other major changes include various updates and enhancements. For example, various fixes for the alpine template have been improved and the init.d message has been enhanced.
