A lot of developers are now releasing flat themes and this seems to be the trend in the near future, at least.
“I’ve noticed a trend is afoot to flatten the appearance of themes. Chrome OS is a good example of this and it is rumored the new iOS 7 will be the same. Evidence of this is observable in Ubuntu as the file manager icons of the navigation tree are flat.
“I used this as a design goal for this release and I am pleased to announce the availability of the AmbianceX (AX) theme for Ubuntu 13.04,” said John Baer on his blog.
Users can download the AX Theme from the developer’s website. The instructions provided are more than enough and users should be able to install it quite easily.
