Centaurus brings a lot of new features and changes

ALT Linux, a Linux distribution based on Sisyphus, codenamed Centaurus, has just reached version 6.0.

ALT Linux is an universal GNU/Linux distro intended for use on servers, desktops and laptops.

ALT Linux 6.0 comes with new some exiting features, such as:

· Selection of installed solutions such as web server or desktop environment  during installation; · Support for manual system services setup and web-based configuration using  control center Alterator; · Deployment of server and desktop solutions from single disk; · Hybrid ISO image suitable for USB flash drives; · Easy deployment of diskless clients (live CD with network home directory  with authentication in ALT domain); · Remote install via VNC.

ALT Linux 6.0 also comes with GNOME 2, FVWM, Linux kernel 3.0.7. “ALT domain” is also a nice feature, is a sign-on implementation that integrates LDAP, Kerberos, DNS, Samba, DHCP, Postfix, Dovecot, network install and software update services.
