4MLinux Allinone Edition 10.1, a Linux operating system built from scratch that wants to provide a complete desktop experience and manage to keep the size to a minimum, has been promoted to stable.

The Allinone Edition of the 4MLinux operating system is always the first one to make an appearance when the development cycle has been completed. It's not a major update, but it should be pretty interesting for the people who are already running this OS.

"The status of the 4MLinux 10.1 series has been changed to STABLE. Lots of improvements, most of which are my response to various feature requests. Mozilla software (Firefox, SeaMonkey, Thunderbird) use the native Linux build of GTK (not via Wine anymore). Gnome Parted (aka Gparted) is now included, while Dropbox and Opera are available as downloadable extensions," wrote the dev.

4MLinux is known for one thing, above all else, its size. It's one of the smallest Linux distros in the world that still feature a functional desktop environment, and the developer has managed to keep the size down, despite numerous updates.

A complete list of changes can be found in the official announcement. Users can also download 4MLinux Allinone Edition 10.1 right now from Softpedia. This is a Live CD and it works very well in a virtual environment like VirtualBox, for example.
