  • system upgraded from Debian testing “Bullseye” repos as of November 10, 2019
  • Calamares installer 3.2.16 + kpmcore 4
  • Linux kernel 5.2.17 as default (5.3.10 & 5.4-rc7 in Sparky unstable repos)
  • obmenu-generator removed from Rescue edition (due to Perl updated up to 5.30 and libgtk2-perl removed); it has been replaced by sparky-obmenu-rescue
  • added Sid repos back (not active) – use it on your own risk
  • Yad updated up to 5.0, but it is available from Sparky unstable repos now

New in SparkyLinux Multimedia 5.7 Rolling (Mar 19, 2019)

  • system updated from Debian testing repos as of March 4, 2019
  • Linux kernel 4.19.16 (5.0 & 4.20.14 available at Sparky “unstable” repos)
  • the Calamares installer updated up to version 3.2.4
  • user’s folders such as: Documents, Music, Download, etc. are automatically created now in your home dir in Openbox and other, small window managers
  • Yad reinstalled to the default Debian’s version + removed old libs (html mode doesn’t work now)
  • Linux kernel has been reverted to Debian’s version from testing repos (amd64 / 686 non-pae) as default
  • the system identifies itself with a release number 5.7 now instead of a line number 5
  • APTus enlarged off two new sections of applications: AudioTool & VideoTool
  • a few small fixes

  • the Calamares and Advanced Installer remove Cryptsetup packages now (Calamares removes the packages if the system is not installed on an encrypted disk/partition)

  • Added new package sparky-tray – it gives quick access to package management: Sparky APTus, Synaptic, repository list editor and root terminal emulator
  • sparky-aptus has been updated up to version 0.1.5 – added new option ‘Fix Broken’ – it lets you fix not (or wrong) installed/upgraded packages
  • The default Sparky theme has been ‘slightly’ improved and upgraded up to version 0.1.1 for better gtk3 applications support
