- Parsix package repositories are synchronized with Debian testing repositories as of July 1, 2010 and for the first time we are offering our own multimedia repository called Wonderland which is a snapshot of Debian Multimedia repository. Vinnie ISO images are compiled using SquashFS 4.0 with LZMA compression will fit on a blank DVD. The updated Linux 2.6.32.16 kernel with improved configuration is patched using the latest TuxOnIce suspension/hibernation and Kon Kolivas's BFS patches. Improved live boot system loads the system faster and this version also ships our experimental USB installer that enables users to run Parsix from USB keys and pen drives. Vinnie has a brand new light look and feel. Parsix 3.6 default features: NetworkManager 0.8 as default networking stack, GRUB 2 boot loader and ext4 file system, brand new update-manager package, and X.Org 7.5. - We are proud to announce that the final Parsix GNU/Linux 3.5r0 ISO images are available for immediate download. This release provides a stable computing platform for your daily uses and tasks. Package repositories are synchronized with Debian testing repositories as of April 7, 2010. Frankie ISO images will not fit on CD and a DVD is required to burn them. These images are compiled using SquashFS 4.0 with LZMA compression and for the first time GRUB 2 is used as default Live-DVD boot loader. The kernel build system has been modified and improved vastly to produce better kernel packages. - The first testing release of Parsix GNU/Linux 3.0 aka `Kev` is out now. This version brings a vast amount of new features like: GNOME 2.26.2, brand new kernel based on Linux 2.6.29.6 with extra patches and drivers, updated installer system that supports ext4 and separate /home partition, NetworkManager is finally default networking stack, AuFS and UnionFS support, SquashFS+Lzma compression for live-CD and lots of updated packages like GNU Iceweasel 3.0.11, GParted 0.4.5, Pidgin 2.5.6 and OpenOffice.org 3.0.1, Compiz-Fusion 0.8.2 etc. We need community users help to test new installer features. New in Parsix GNU/Linux 2.0 Test 3 (Mar 11, 2009)
- The third and final testing release of Parsix GNU/Linux, code name 'Boss Skua', is out. Parsix Boss ships a brand new kernel based on Linux 2.6.26.8, with extra patches and drivers. The live CD compression system has been upgraded to version 3.4, which brings higher compression rate. Unionfs is default for live CD mode. Several bugs have been fixed and several packages updated. Highlights: GNOME 2.24.3, GNU Iceweasel 3.0.6, GParted 0.4.3, Pidgin 2.4.3 and OpenOffice.org 2.4.1, Compiz-Fusion 0.7.8, VirtualBox 2.1.4 and GNU Flash Player 0.8.4. We still have a couple of things to accomplish, including a kernel update for the latest TuxOnIce, so expect the final release within a week.
