What's new in Kubuntu 22.04.2 LTS

  • The second point release update to Kubuntu 22.04 LTS (Jammy Jellyfish) is out now. This contains all the bug-fixes added to 22.04 since its first point release in August 2022. Users of 22.04 can run the normal update procedure to get these bug-fixes.

New in Kubuntu 22.04.1 LTS (Aug 20, 2022)

  • This is a brief summary of bugs fixed between Ubuntu 22.04 and 22.04.1. This summary covers only changes to packages in main and restricted, which account for all packages in the officially-supported images; there are further changes to various packages in universe and multiverse. Some of these fixes were by Ubuntu developers directly, while others were by upstream developers and backported to Ubuntu.
  • In addition to the bugs listed below, this update includes all security updates from the Ubuntu Security Notice list 43 affecting Ubuntu 22.04 LTS that were released up to and including August 9, 2022. The last update included was USN-5551-1 (mod-wsgi vulnerability).

  • Plasma 5.24 has been developed to make it smoother to use while retaining the familiar setup.
  • Kubuntu 22.04 ships the 4th scheduled bugfix release of KDE Plasma 5.24 (5.24.4).
  • KDE Apps updates, including KDE Gear 21.12 and other updated apps
  • Web browser and office suite:
  • Firefox 99 is the default browser, using a snap from the Ubuntu archive.
  • LibreOffice 7.3.2.2 is provided by default in the full installation.
  • Qt:
  • Kubuntu 22.04 ships with Qt 5.15.3:

  • VLC Media Player is upgraded to version 3.0.16
  • kio-fuse is now installed by default since 21.10
  • kdevelop is updates to the latest version
  • DigiKam 7 is now packaged
  • labplot is updated and now builds with cantor support

  • Plasma Wayland session:
  • A Plasma Wayland session is available for testing by installing the plasma-workspace-wayland package, but is not supported. A Wayland session can then be started by selecting it at the login screen.
