Remembrance For Linux

There are a lot of good reminder apps for Linux out there. Even though each one comes with various unique features, the core principle is always the same - these are apps that keep you from forgetting important dates, tasks, events, and so forth.

Remembrance is one such reminder application and, just as long as you don't expect it to integrate with other online/cloud-based services, it should get the job done nicely.

Remembrance is a free and open-source application that allows you to set reminders for anything you deem worth remembering. The app sends a notification at the specified time, at which point you can either mark it as complete (and you won't be notified/reminded again), or postpone it.

Another great little aspect is that you can sort and filter your reminders, as well as search for specific reminders within the applicaiton. A very simple user experience.

The best thing about Remembrance is its simplicity (well, that and the fact that it looks gorgeous, especially on GNOME-based desktops). Nevertheless, the app does lack certain "must-have" features such as recurring reminders (set to receive this feature before it reaches stable stage).

According to the developer, planned features include the addition of a GNOME Shell extension that lets users view and maybe edit reminders, or better integration with the GNOME Shell as a whole (including the search feature), as well as various other animations and UI improvements.

Remembrance is one of the simplest reminder apps out there, but it gets the job done without problems. In fact, for some users, this might even be the main appeal, which is understandable, as most simple and minimalist apps often feel so satisfying to use.
