QPwmc (previously known as pwmdEdit) is an open source, free, full-featured and cross-platform graphical application designed to provide a libpwmd client that can be used to connect to pwmd (Password Manager Daemon).

The application can be used to edit the data file of the Password Manager Daemon software and it’s very similar to a regular XML editor. However, QPwmc can handle the “target” attribute and lets users to manage remote hosts, change the passphrase of a data file via keyfile or pinentry, generate GPG keys, as well as to send a protocol command to Password Manager Daemon.

QPwmc can be easily integrated into any project, thanks to the included PwmdDialog class, allows users to use custom colors for the element tree, as well as to import and export passwords to and from an external file. The application also supports connection profiles for the TLS (Transport Layer Security), SSH (Secure Shell) and UDS (Unified Diagnostic Services) protocols.

Its graphical user interface is easy to use, allowing the user to effortlessly interact with all of PMD’s features. While on the left side you can see the element tree, where you can interact with the stored passwords, the application allows users to edit element attributes on the right side of the window. At a glance, you can view all stored credentials.

QPwmc is written entirely in the C++ programming language and uses the cross-platform Qt GUI toolkit for its graphical user interfaces. It is distributed as a single, universal sources archive that can be used to optimize the app on any GNU/Linux system or BSD distribution.

The software has been successfully tested with both 32-bit and 64-bit instruction set architectures, and it can also be installed from the default software repositories of any Linux distro.

What's new in QPwmc 0.3.1:

  • This version adds a Clients tab to the program Options to show connected clients and the ability to terminate them and adds the -d command line option to write the socket, data file and selected element path the to the specified file descriptor.
  • It also contains a few bug fixes.
