Pix For Linux

A good photo organizer is a lifesaver when it comes to helping you sort out tons of photos, and has the potential to save you a lot of time and headache.

Pix may not be the most obvious choice when it comes to choosing a good photo organizer for Linux, as its not particularly popular, but it gets the job done once and if you take the time to get to grips with it.

For starters, Pix is a KDE application, which is usually a good thing in terms of quality. Pix may seem basic, but there's a lot it can do. While it seems basic at first glance, Pix can double as both an image gallery app, as well as an image viewer.

The app boasts a simple GUI with not much in terms of visual appeal and with three main sections, Gallery, Tags, and Folders. Pix can be used to open and preview images, as well as open images with other image viewers/editors, add tags to photos, add annotations, as well as rotate and share them.

For such a simple app, it's somewhat impressive that Pix has such a hefty Settings section. From the Settings menu, you can change various aspects regarding the app's behavior and looks.

For example, you can choose between two modes (Light and Dark), toggle the Auto-Reload function on or off, configure how the viewer displays your images, as well as sort them based on preference. Last but not least, the Settings section is also the place from where you can  change the default sources for the app.

Taking everything into account, Pix is a nice little KDE app that should come in handy to users who want both an image viewer and an image organizer. It may not be everyone's cup of tea, but if you choose to give it a try, it probably won't disappoint.
