You've surely worked or opened at least one PDF during your life, right? But, how many times have you though about the importance of PDF metadata? Probably never, although there are a couple of very important reasons why PDF metadata is really important.

PDF metadata includes information such as title, author, subject, keywords, and a series of basic copyright-related info and it's primarily important for making the document more visible and more accessible, both by your computer's system and online search engines. If you want to view or even edit PDF metadata, then what you need is clearly a specialized app.

An app that does just that is Paper Clip (formerly known as PDF Metadata Editor), a super simple, modern, free, and open-source Linux app.

Working with Paper Clip is literally a walk in the park: you just open the app, load the PDF in question, and manually edit all the desired properties/metadata entries.

You can edit the following information: title, author, creator, producer, creation date, and modification date. What's more, you can also add as many keywords as you want (or delete already existing ones that are not relevant).

The app also allows you to view the details of PDF files which include the format, layout, duplex, permissions, and viewer preferences settings, and that's about it.

If you want to use Paper Clip, there are two main ways to install it on your system. You can either go to the official GitHub page and follow the instructions and build it from source (using GNOME Builder, as recommended by the developer) or directly from Flathub, on Flatpak-enabled systems.
