Take notes and thoroughly organize them with the help of this surprisingly good, little, free and open-source note-taking app. #Note-taking App #Take Note #Note App #Note #List #Organizer
At first glance, Notes might seem like any other note-taking application out there and, to be honest, you wouldn't be completely wrong. However, despite its lackluster and way way too generic name, Notes is actually one of the better classic note-taking apps out there, and here's why.
Right off the bat, there aren't that many things Notes can't do. Need to organize your notes into folders? Not a problem. Want a more universal way of organizing? Also not a problem, as you can use tags.
Want to format notes with Markdown quickly and effortlessly? Notes has got you covered. Different GUI themes, a customizable feed view that allows you to select multiple notes and see them all in the editor, and a quick search function? Yes, yes, and yes.
Other noteworthy features include an auto-save feature (so you don't have to manually save notes, and also ensures you're always covered in case your system crashes, or something bad happens), customizable keyboard shortcuts, and the ability to summon the app via a global shortcut.
Of course, Notes is also very much usable on all the major OSes out there (Windows, Linux, and macOS), and it's free and open-source.
Stating the drawbacks of apps that were created by the community for the community feels a bit off every time, as we all know just how much time and effort developers put into apps of this sort.
Nevertheless, Notes is not perfect. The main and most annoying issue (at least with the Linux version of the app) is that Notes looks more like a macOS app even on Linux. From a functionality standpoint, this is not a deal breaker, but visually, it might annoy some users, which is understandable.
Other than that, not much to say. Notes is a really nice and efficient app for people who value productivity and speed over looks, and all in all, one of the best cross-platform and open-source note-taking apps out there.
