Manage files quicker and with less effort by relying on this modern, customizable, and very competent file manager. #File Manager #Manage Files #Folder Management #File #Manager #Folder
When it comes to handling files and folders, most modern OSes do a fine job at providing users with all the required tools to get the job done. However, this doesn't mean that typical, built-in file managers provide everything all users need.
This is why third-party file managers were invented, and for users who value efficiency and speed above all else, they're definitely the way to go. If you're currently scouting for a good file manager for Linux, then you might want to check out HiFile.
The main purpose of a file manager is to provide the user with an easy-to-understand GUI for managing files and folders. HiFile has all of the basics covered since it provides you with an easy way to view, edit, copy, delete, and organize files with ease.
The app also boasts a very nice Search function, it comes with support for filtering, archiving, and some nice synchronization features.
It's completely free and open-source, and it works on all major desktop platforms such as Windows, macOS, and almost all Linux distributions (thanks to its AppImage packaging).
There are a lot of aspects that make HiFile so good. Besides what's been mentioned above, it's also lightning fast, it's very lightweight, efficient, and highly customizable. However, ultimately, it's the features that usually dictate the need for a specific product, and that's also HiFile's case.
We mentioned that it comes with archiving support, which means that you can effortlessly browse archives (RAR, ZIP, ARJ, 7z, etc. ) and see all their contents (pretty much as you would browse through a normal folder). Another cool little trick up HiFile's sleeve comes in the form of its integrated viewers.
HiFile allows you to preview pretty much all types of content (and perform basic editing in some cases): images, text, and binary files.
While the GUI is not a marvel of style, it doesn't seem all that outdated, especially if you don't mind the classic layout of a file manager with a dual-pane view, and a typical toolbar + file menu at the top.
Besides the ability to filter items efficiently, and customize the GUI as you see fit (choose various colors schemes and the overall zoom levels of the GUI), HiFile can be operated by both mouse and keyboard inputs, even though, clearly, learning to use it via the keyboard is a lot faster and smoother.
There's really not much to dislike about HiFile. It's a solid file manager which can be used on all major desktop platforms, that's remarkably customizable, very lightweight, and provides both basic and more advanced features.
Apart from the hum-drum GUI (and we're referring strictly to its looks, not the practicality), HiFile scores top marks on pretty much all aspects, and that's exactly why it should be on your shortlist of file managers you want to try out.
