RubyMine is dubbed by many as the best Ruby/JavaScript editor currently available.

Granted, it's not a perfect solution, as it does require you to pay a premium in order to use it for more than 30 days and, as most JetBrains products, they're not particularly well suited for low-end machines.

Features like clipboard history, automatic completion, live templates, underline syntax errors in real-time in both JavaScript and Ruby, the ability to configure automatic spell checking for comments (and not for code), are just some of the small details that make RubyMine one of the best IDEs out there.

One of the best aspects of RubyMine is the amount of integrated tools. For example, the app allows you to browse unsuccessful failing tests, and find the problems, and filter them output for each test individually.

Running a server or rake tasks is also something that RubyMine is quite adept at. The Git support is also top-notch and allows you to perform all a wide range of Git-specific tasks such as pull, merge changes and commit.

Last but not least, the app boasts seamless integration with tools such as Rake Task Runner, Bundler, RVM/Rbenv, Rails Generator, and many more.

In the world of IDEs, there's no singular product that is perfect. Some developers might prefer plain editors over the usage of full-featured behemoths that is RubyMine.
