An Android OS for Intel and x86-based PCs, derived from the Android-x86 project.. #Android-x86 #Android OS #Linux distribution #Android-x86 #Android #Linux
Phoenix OS is a fork of the well-known Remix OS and Android-x86 projects, which have a single goal in their design, to allow users to run the Android mobile operating system from Google on your personal computer, be it either a desktop or laptop.
Just like Remix OS, Phoenix OS is distributed as a binary archive in the ZIP file format, which means that users need to write it on a USB flash drive of 8GB or higher capacity using the USB Maker tool created by the project's developers.
Phoenix OS is built by a group of skilled Chinese software engineers, which means that it's a bilingual project, available in Chinese and English languages, with the former being the default one for new installations of the operating system.
On the other hand, the Phoenix OS USB Maker utility is only available in Chinese, but we've provided our English readers with detailed instructions on how to write Phoenix OS on a USB stick and get started with using Android on their PCs.
The first time boot of the Live USB key with Phoenix OS on it will take a while, during which you will briefly see some text about the operating system being loaded, and then a splash screen with the Phoenix OS logo will be presented to the user.
Once the OS gets loaded, you'll be prompted to choose your favorite language (Chinese or English), connect to the Internet, and input a temporary username for the live session.
Phoenix OS is beautifully crafted, and everything looks great and works as promoted. It includes all the applications one needs to achieve its fundamental daily tasks when connected to the Internet.
Among the apps, we can notice a web browser, an email client, an office suite, a music player, a text editor, a voice recorder, an image viewer, a calendar, a notes app, a calculator, a clock, and a webcam viewer.
In conclusion, Phoenix OS is a very good alternative to the Remix OS distribution, as well as to the Android-x86 project. It looks great and it's not bloated with apps that one doesn not need and has to remove after installation.
