LliureX Server For Linux

LliureX Server is an open source operating system, the official server edition of the LliureX Linux operating system, which is based on the highly acclaimed Edubuntu distribution. It is designed to work with the Client flavor of LliureX.

A little bit strange for a server-oriented distribution, but it is available for download as Live DVD ISO images that will support both 64-bit (amd64) and 32-bit (i386) instruction set architectures. To use these ISO images, you must first write them on DVD discs or USB flash drives of 4GB or higher capacity.

When booting the ISO image from the BIOS of a PC, users will be prompted by a boot menu that allows them to try the distro without installing it, start the installation process, rescue a broken system, boot an existing operating system from the first disk drive, as well as to check the integrity of the bootable medium (only if using a DVD media).

LliureX Server uses the same desktop environment as the Client edition, powered by GNOME. It’s comprised of a single taskbar located on the bottom edge of the screen, from where you can launch applications without too much fuss.

As expected for a Live DVD distribution of approximately 2GB in size, it include a plethora of open source applications, among which we can mention Shutter screenshot utility, the entire LibreOffice office suite, Audacity audio editor, VLC Media Player, Cheese webcam viewer, FileZilla file transfer client, Transmission torrent downloader, Mozilla Firefox web browser, and Pidgin instant messenger.
