The guys over Unvanquished, a free and open-source FPS (first-person shooter) game for GNU/Linux, Mac OS X and Microsoft Windows operating systems, have just returned from their winter holidays and released the first Alpha build for 2016.

Unvanquished Alpha 47 comes with some interesting additions, among which we can mention Breakpad support for the game engine to provide users with a simpler and friendlier crash reporting system, but available only for Linux, Windows and NaCl. Moreover, the new release ships with a medistation model, which includes a new effect.

"Happy new year! It’s our first release for 2016, and we have some nice new content for you. On the engine side of things, we’ve added in Breakpad support, which is a built-in crash reporting system. It is currently available for Windows, Linux, and NaCl, with Mac support to come in the near future," reads today's announcement.

But that's not all, because Unvanquished Alpha 47 also adds multiple improvements to the movement of human players, such as slide, wall-run, and side-dodge. It also squashes numerous bugs that have been reported by users since the previous Alpha build, most of them related to logging/console spam, resetting of cheat cvars, empty map crash, and a clustering code crash.

Download Unvanquished Alpha 47 for GNU/Linux, Mac OS X and Microsoft Windows operating systems right now via Softpedia or directly from the game's website, where you can find all the infromation you need to get started. Please keep in mind, though, that the game is still in the Alpha stages of development, which means that it is not a finished product. Below, we've attached the entire changelog.
