14 DAY TRIAL // The File Manager is just one of the many community maintained applications on Ubuntu Touch and a new version has been recently released and made available for upgrade.
The Ubuntu Touch operating system uses a file manager that looks and functions pretty much like a desktop version. In fact, this is the file manager that people will get on the desktop when Unity 8 will finally land in a stable and usable form. Until then, the application will continue to get updates and various other improvements, like the ones that just landed.
"Just uploaded a new release of #ubuntu phone community maintained File Manager to the store. Now has SAMBA support, new icon, bug fixes," wrote Ubuntu community manager Alan Pope on Google+.
According to the changelog, preliminary SAMBA support has been implemented, a multi-arch package for use on all supported architectures has been added, a new icon has been implemented, and lots of other smaller fixes have been made available.
The file manager on Ubuntu Touch is one of the most flexible and with the most functionalities that you'll find on any given mobile operating systems. In fact, you would have to pay good money on some mobile platforms just to get close. And, the best thing of all, you get root access to the phone with a simple click.
