8BitMMO, a retro-style 2D massively multiplayer game developed and published by Archive Entertainment, will get a Linux version soon.

There are very few developers who make new MMOs that also try to relate to the golden 8-bit era of gaming, but it seems that there are still a few people out there that remember it.

“8BitMMO is a retro-style 2D massively multiplayer game! It's a giant construction sandbox -- you can build a home or a castle in a persistent streaming world. Found and manage your own city. Fight evil LawyerCats and engage in Player vs Player battle,” reads the official website.

The game is essentially free to play, but users can buy some packages that will give them an edge, such as the Steam Founder's Pack Basic (2,100 gold, 15 plat, and an exclusive hat) and the Steam Founder's Pack Deluxe (5,040 gold, 36 plat, and two exclusive hats).

The information about the Linux version is taken from the Steam database, and it is by no means completely certain. The Steam Database is a record of data that describes every Steam game and subscription provided by Valve for the Steam service.

Usually, the new entries are first visible in the Steam Database before their official launch. The game is still under development, so be sure you check the official Steam website.
