Johnny Hughes has had the great pleasure of informing CentOS users that the famous open-source Linux distribution derived from Red Hat Enterprise Linux is now available for 32-bit (i686) hardware architectures.

Few of you knew that CentOS 7 Linux was distributed until now only for 64-bit (x86_64) and ARM64 (AArch64) architectures, but being one of the most requested features, the RHEL-based operating system is now also available for 32-bit (i686) platforms.

"The Beta release of the 32-bit (i686) Architecture of CentOS-7 (1503) is currently on build logs," says Johnny Hughes. "Right now, only the boot.iso is available, but after some testing from the users here with feedback, we can spin another tree with fixes and actual installer isos."

The 32-bit edition of CentOS 7.1-1503 is currently in the Beta stages of development, so it has been made available for download only as a boot.iso image that basically allows you to boot the operating system and then start adding packages from the Internet to get a complete installation.

The actual installation mediums will be made available for download at a later time. Until then, you can download CentOS 7.1-1503 32-bit right now via Softpedia. Please try to keep in mind though that it's a pre-release version and some known issues are present.
