    Getting many X crashes after installing 285.05.09. Repeatably when trying to open a jpeg file in Gimp.

    So far, it does not work for ubuntu 8.10 on acer 7520-5271.

    Have you tried typing the command 'init 3' as root? Or edit the /etc/inittab file and replace 5 with 3 at init runlevel and then reboot? There are lots of ways to exit X server..

    how i can install this driver? can't exit X sever.
