There once was a worthless Yahoo Messenger hosted by Softpedia for Linux that stopped working many years ago. Moron after brainless Moron downloaded it week after week in the blind belief it would start working again. Isn't it funny that because it's called Yahoo Messenger these foolish crazy's continue to download it as if it's magic or something. Just imagine if they called it Apple iyahoo Messenger! These crazy's would jump up and down with excitement and be heard screaming it still doesn't work but it comes from Apple so it must be good, I'm so excited I've downloaded it. OK for the record Pidgin and Kopete Messenger allows you to connect to Yahoo. Can be downloaded easily in Ubuntu, Mint, Suse, Fedora the list goes on. Why are you making it so hard for yourself???? Have you seen how ugly this app really is???? It's so out of date I just don't get it why you'd even want it if it did still work. Windows 95 anyone!! I've heard that Softpedia staff sit there in their offices laughing as each halfwit downloads this and that's why they leave it here for download.

why cant Yahoo develop a modern voice messenger for Linux? even crummy Skype has it.... will an old yahoo-er like me be forced to migrate to skype???

Mighty fine Application this one! Now comes with Cloud, Webcam, Youtube and Touchpad integration. Protocols used will be valid until 2099. The feature I really like it through your Webcam this messenger can read you mind, no need to type at all! If your away from your PC it will search your mobile phone number and call you when someone logs in even if you haven't told it your mobile number. Can also predict lottery numbers! Don't believe me!! then why do you still think this out of date Application will work on your computer when comments posted here keep telling you it won't!! Move on already and install apps like Pidgin, Kopete the list goes on.

Kopete in KDE4 with give you Webcam support and supports current Yahoo Protocols. just select Kopete in Ubuntu's Package Manager and Ubuntu will install everything required.

Yahoo 1.0.4 looks ugly Windows 95 looking. For the record I use an older Linux Distro so I can install it and start it up. I can guarantee even when working that it refuses to connect to Yahoo!

Who is still downloading this !! Why won't Softpedia remove it once and for all. Pidgin, Kopete the list goes on for Apps in Linux that support current Yahoo protocols. To those who have the misguided belief that you will ever be able to communicate with anyone use this should insert a USB cord up their behind plug the other end in to their PC and start talking as there's more chance of someone hearing you on Yahoo doing this then using this old out of date ugly pointless I want to hit someone App.

This software no longer works. Don't download it.

back in the day this did as well as aim...not many features but was dependable. You really should search for this site for Gyache. It will redirect you to sourceforge. or you can follow the develops link to his Gyache page. There are several other options and links there you can choose from when installing it. It seems to have even more features than Yahoo does!

2000 downloads per week??? This Program uses a Yahoo chat protocol that's out of Date..... Don't you get it!! It won't let you talk to your yahoo friends it's old and out of date... People are still downloading this if you don't understand what Protocol is this is all you need to know. Yahoo changed the way it connects you to Yahoo This Program still uses the old way of connecting so is basically useless a waste of space... Softpedia should have pulled this months ago from this site. Please use your brain and save yourself some time. Send a message to Yahoo to bring out a new version..... They won't listen as their part of Microsoft.

i cant use this messenger anymore since ive switched to linux an let me tell you the benifits of using linux on my computer far outway the benifits of having yahoomessenger ive had to use pidgeon messenger it seems to work the best with linux just dont have chat or cam capabilities on pidgeon

cant install because dependent on an old libglib1.2 I have and need the newer one and cant install this till its upgraded,I verry much want yahoo for linux debian gnome but I need the the glib I have for blender 3d,please update the lib for all of use that use gnome debian.

As the old yahoo protocol died a few days ago, this app most likely won't work anymore. Yahoo needs a go kick up the bum for changing their protocols without providing a replacement Linux App. Send them an email to let them know how you feel about this. Don't hold back, give it to them.

Yahoo stop blindsiding unix users when you yourself use FreeBSD to run your servers! you don't deserve to use it if this is how you repay us!

Yahoo don't support linux, it would appear, only Microsoft.
If you need messenger, then you really have to run XP in a virtualbox or something - it won't work under WINE yet.

Good luck - if you don't need webcam support, then Pidgin is fine.

This messenger is old and out of date. Yahoo should take care about linux user just like Skype or Gizmo. I think Yahoo is not what he used to be. Yahoo will died soon.
