| Version: Wine 1.1.6 | Reviewer: Gary Bicking

The simple fact is that while all of this sounds good, my experience with Linux has been a bad nightmare. I worked in the IT industry for over 10 years, and the more I read the more confused I get. This is not user friendly, how you can expect someone to understand what they need to run Linux, and then a program like WINE so that they can use their windows apps, and not get confused. I have looked at several sites in which I was suppose to be able to download Wine, but in every case, what I find is links to everything else, and no explanations. I would certainly like to try all of this, but you need to stop being techs for one minute and read what you have, could you understand it, would you know what to download, what you needed top do. You provide no instructions or guidelines, only links, which are useless unless you understand all of you jargon. At this point, my assessment of Linux is that it is not for everyday users, and never will be until those who are supporting it and promoting it learns how to write a how to manual from the aspect of the common end user. Let me know when you finally get it. Like I said, I like the idea, but the techs need to think about the end-users prospectus and understanding when all they see are links with no real explanation of what or where they are to go. All I wanted to do was download Wine to a CD so that I could install it on a new PC with no internet access. How do I do that? |
