Have been a 'buntu fan since it was born and currently use Mint 8 on my desktop. For those who don't know, Mint is based on the 'buntu family. My netbook came with Win 7 Starter and it was OK but any extra tools I wanted were going to cost. I checked out other netbook o/s's and decided to try Ubuntu Netbook Edition 10.04. It was good and after some scripting the USB wireless modem worked fine - far faster than Win 7. As soon as 10.10 was up I upgraded and I don't think it should be compared to 10.04. To me it's almost like a brand new environment. I agree with other users that Unity is clumsy but 'buntu has a great track record for fixing each release and let's be fair, you can't complain about the cost!

Well, ubuntu is an excellent os. I was always a fan of the nbr until this releases. Unity is a bit slow and u can\'t adjust it to your needs. The file & folder section is terrible. It needs at least 3 steps until u reach you home folder! Expected more.
