I burnt the distro onto a DVD and loaded it into memory, from which state I am writing these lines.
The distro loaded relatively fast into memory, without asking for silly passwords that nobody knows.Once loaded, it looked clean and appealing - a rhino on a white background. A right click on the desktop pulls down a menu, from which you can operate.
It's got almost everything: Firefox, SKYPE, Transmission, Printer-setup (and it detected my printer HP DJ1050-J410) Simple Scan, sound-recorder, Libre-Office, Midnight commander, even Remastersys, Synaptic package manager, Gdebi-installer, Thunar, Diskmanager, Screenshooter, USB image writer, xfburn to just name a few and even an INSTALL button.
To me it seems an excellent distro, compiled with thought and care! It would be suitable for novices right through to the expert and I'm sure it would fulfill anybody's expectations.
Definitely a complete substitute for Windows, although that statement could almost be taken as an insult :)) |
