Puppy Precise 5.6.1 is really good. Easy to use but full of power. It's my pen drive Linux distro and was my entry door to Linux, months ago. But the new 5.7 Alpha won't even boot so i couldn't review that one. I'm not sure if the new Puppy 5.7 was made to work with new processors only or if it is a different problem but the total lack of information online just says to stay away from this Alpha. What a shame.
Thanks for your release. I see it as an alternative that may let me copy a file I need a bunch. Have not got it done yet. Please see http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=12421457#post12421457, where I describe an effort to use Puppy Linux "Precise" 5.4.3 to aid in the repair of Lubuntu 12.04.1. Hope that is feasible and I call developers, frankly anyone's help to over come the crashed OS that appears to come apart.
Lubuntu 12.04 crashed on ASUS P5GC-MX which is a PC I rebuilt [See also my Aug 5, 2012 post on same PC as per a lib cups 2 HP 79.0036]. This time it's likely I should have reported "Lib cups 2" not lib sum 2". This time I was using a Dell 1700 Laser printer on which it was necessary to download a cups driver. I bet a slight incompatibility causes the crash. I am dumb struck as to how to unravel this as I cannot bring up the PC's terminal page. I believe it is correct that Lubuntu had updated 12.04
