lol> "kernel panic - not syncing : Attempted to kill init!" Got this after install.

BAD for installing to internal HD, i find compared to other distros.

Good in live ram mode, nice interface...

Itss a good distro in live mode, but like "Lubuntu" its bad at installing to your internal HD, now i have got re-format my hard drive, because of this error, its a annoying..... if i had more ram i would put ubuntu, or mint like usually do, but on this particular laptop only got 256 ram. Its a shame its seemed great too since i refurbished it....

Please stop making assumptions. Above all, please don't assume that everyone has the bandwidth to download something this size RIGHT NOW! All I wanted was a link to the ISO so I could do the download in the wee hours of the morning, using 'at', like a good neighbor. Please don't hide the link to the ISO. Thanks.

A peppy linux system. Small footprint, extremely fast. Installation is fairly easy. The upgrade and update concepts are unique and easy to use; especially the "frugal" method. The PET packaging concept is great. Needs some more PET packages repositories around the world.
Overall: the most advanced linux available out there today... and it's FREE. woof!!!

Everything you would ever want to know about how to get started with Puppy Linux and Linux in general can be found at the Puppy Linux FAQ ( www.puppylinuxfaq.org ). There is no easier way to get started with Linux than by visiting the Puppy Linux FAQ and trying Puppy Linux for yourself.

By far my favorite Linux distro. Fits on a USB making the whole OS portable. Does take some tweaking to get a few things working; however, it is very easy to add most programs,etc... Best part is, if you make a mistake somewhere and aren't quite sure how to fix it (or can't fix it) just reinstall. You can generally reinstall and get the OS back to how you had it in about an hour or two.

The only thing I can do with Puppy Linux -or any Linux version -
is surf. I can't save a video, or do millions of things that are normal & easy in Windows. It's just Linux - and no explanations are needed.
Trained as a computer technician, hobbyist for 10 years but can't DO much in Linux at all. A great shame that it is so dissimilar to, and incompatible with Windows software & nomenclature. I tried PCLOS and thought it a small step in the right direction. Puppy is great fun as a hobby / game fun thing but Linux is not usable for most people. It just isn't ! Sometimes we try...

some apps windowed not support 800x600, like..
    -aqualung's "setting"
    -PPM's "configure"
    and maybe more....

"seamonkey" swallow memory till dry.... and makes Puppy slow and slower
    to "not responding" anymore...... (T_T)
when i see memory usage in Top view running process, its swallow up to 143%...

    -i can't play my ".flv" file.... :(
    -my ".3gp" is silent....
-".ogg" audio file defaulted to gxine not to aqualung....
-aqulung without feature "auto equalise", gxine too....
    -aqualung no integrated with last.fm
    -Xarchive not support ".rar", ".7z"
    -abiword not support ".rtf"
-no set default openwith for ".ico"
-no set default openwith for fontfiles...

    i liked puppy,
but view bugs fixed makes me liked it more
    (^_^)
if i find any bugs, .. i'll send it later

Java jre is missing, open office is missing (you cant even download a working copy from puppy, requires much tinkering to get it to work), chess software is non-existent, supertux is missing from the download sites, streamtuner and xmms do not work-they've been "replaced" by a newer program that stinks. Modem/dialup support poor. No support for WPA2, but WEP works great out of the box.
Puppy Linux is an amazing distro but seems to have stumbled a bit since Barry Kauler turned over the reins to the community. They've lost sight of the "just works" goal and are steering more towards the Debian "nothing works out of the box without extensive tinkering" model.

Very good work! Congratulations and thanks for all. But we need Java JRE, please! I´m running Puppy Linux 4.1.2 on notebook Dell Inspiron 1525 and I´m satisfied with this experience.

The best Live MINI CD I've come across. Particularly impressed with the single click function for launching programmes from the desktop, the speed of the system and the GUI. Very nice indeed.
    Keep up the awesome work!
