Well, first I have to say, what a hell of an improvement over Pear OS3! Sometimes, I companies or project teams don't listen to their customers and users, and ultimately the fail, because the customer always has choices! I applaud the team who worked on this new version 4, because they got everything corrected, plus alot more, over the previous release. Installation was super easy, and booting is very fast. I haven't detected any bugs yet after using for a couple of days now.
This Linux OS version is a serious rival, in my opinion, to the very top distos out there, and it loks and behaves just like the Apple MAC OS. The Comice desktop looks so attractive and runs so smoothly, its a definite winner! And, I am sure that once users try's this out for themselves, they will be hooked and quickly jump ship for Comice/Pear OS Linux. I highly recommend this Linux version! |

I have used and tested dozens of versions of Linux, with each having their own unique strengths and weaknesses. I usually use one of the big 5 distros for everyday work, but recently decided to try a lighter version on one of my older P4 computers. While most did an adequate job, they were seriously lacking in alot of essentials, particularly ease-of-use. After searching around the net for samples, I happened upon Softpedia Linux section, which is unusual, because I mainly come here to download software for my Windows-based computers. Surprising enough, they had a new distro which I was not at all familiar with called Pear OS Linux. After reading the basic bit of details about it, I decided to go to the company website to learn more. I did. Then came back to Softpedia to download. Its a really great Linux distro which the producers has compiled. Looks amazing and performs speedily! Cant tell the difference between Pear OS and Apple OS, which is what the intentions were about, according to what I read on another description. The only flaw I witnessed, and again echoed by other users, is the language pack, which seem to have a bug and mixes up the English and French dialects. But not a major deal if you already know how to get around Linux. I really doubt any going back to other versions of Linux once they have tried this one. Its a winner to me! |
