I have been using PCLinuxOS as replacement for a terrible Vista which came installed on my laptop. I installed PCLinuxOS 2010 enlightenment version. I ended-up spending 9 months in hospital last year and when I got out PCLinuxOS people had changed all repositories and I could not do updates any more. Very disappointing. It also meant that I could not install programs.

I tried 2012.02 but it started in 1024x768 and every time I tried to change it too 1366x768 it crashed. Trying to use any settings caused crashes. It is absolutely a terrible waste of time and effort. Pity they did not test it before releasing it! Very poor performance. Surely they can improve on previous editions rather than making them worse.

I have tried many of the Linux distributions and have come to the conclusion that PCLinux is my favorite. Everything about PCLinux rates #1 with me. Excellent distribution.

I've been using PCLinuxOS for over 2.5 years now. It's a great distro that very rarely stumbles. It's backed by a terrifically supportive community that's led by Texstar, a very capable leader/maintainer. Installation is a breeze. It's elegant and fast and usually has the most up to date versions of software in the repositories.

Seriously, what more could one ask?

Like others have mentioned, it installed with no problems, recognized my hardware with no tweaking. Has been very stable. Using wine as allowed me to use the few windows programs I must have, so I am delighted.

I tried this distro as a replacement for my vista. Initially I was hesitant and tried minime 2008 on a 1GB flash drive and it worked great. The installation and configuration was easy with no driver issues. All the hardware started working without any problem. Its one of the most stable distros. I am not sure it does not have as much popularity as it should have. Mine is a 2007 laptop. Its has tons of customization. Now this is my primary desktop with 2009.2 release. Its also very good for guys looking for switch over from windows to linux. 3D desktop is awesome. I tried KDE 4 upgrade in a VM and yet to upgrade my desktop to KDE4.

I tried many linux distros and also tried ReactOS, but out of all the distros I tried PCLINUXOS was the easiest to install and went on my system without any problems. I would recommend this os to anyone that wants a good os.

Thiis OS ran two motherboards that no other distro would work with. It installs fast and easily, starts up quickly, and runs very well.

I have been fed up with MS Win 20000 and XP and having to reinstall them sevral times, though I defragged and ran a firewall and antivirus suites, like Norton System works and Zone Alarm Internet Security, etc.
I tried Ubuntu Linux first for 6 months. Then SimplyMepis. The PCLinuxOS 2007 MiniMe.
The user interface and KDE desktop and Package upgrading was so easy even for a NEWB like me, I stopped looking or trying other Linux OS. But I check in at DistroWatch.com and noticed PCLinuxOS 2009.1 for both 32 and 64 bit is out, so I got it and installed it and it's a KEEPER, as far as I'm concerned. I do like the old, 2007, desktop theme better then the new, 2009, blue wave thing, FWIW. You can change it. I also run LinuxMINT; better for DVD movies and audio video stuff. Cheers!

I was getting upset at cleaning out WindowsXP again i.e virus, bots etc. I've been testing various OSes from time to time and this time I downloaded about 15 distro's to try. after many hours of burning running and testing for my own use. I found PCLinuxOS to be stable enough and met my needs. I have a new system evga 750i motherboard. Intel q6600 quad, 2 pny 8600 gts sli cards. The main problem I had with most of the distrubitions was the video cards. PCLinuxOS had to be loaded with vesa drivers as well, but I upgraded without any issues. It has the software packages and features I needed right out of the box. I still downloaded some of the virtual stuff for fun. anyway I found this Distro ran with my system hardware without hours of trying to find fixes for the hardware. Just runs sweet. Version 9.1
