I downloaded the distro within 6 minutes. Although the download said "torrent", it wasn't. It was the ISO I downloaded. Using Brasero I burnt the distro onto a disk and loaded it into memory. No passwords to make you angry, it all went smoothly and without a hitch. It didn't take long either. Having arrived at the desktop it was pleasant to look at. The seeds of dandylions drifting across the screen to emphasize the "lite" version.

The usual icons were there: Computer, Install to hard-drive, trash and File-manager. A nice surprise were 4 small windows with: weather, news, calender and clock - all easily visible.

I checked out the store: 463 items were available, usually the important ones. Gnome Commander, Transmission, FireFox etc. although I was not able to spot Korganizer or Skype and only a "base" version of Libre Office seemed available. Abiword was there and also FOCUS WRITER. As far as printing goes I found a Print Manager and HP Device Manager.

With Chromium Web Browser I went onto the web and I had all intentions to write these lines from Linpus in memory. When typing my email address into the space above I noticed the different keyboard. I tried to rectify this but to no avail. I only found the English keyboard and three different Chinese keyboards - none of which were useful to my setup here. From this point of view the distro is of no use to me. If you have, however, an English or Chinese keyboard, this distro might be quite well worth a try.......

Tried 5 times to download Linpus Linux Lite 1.7. It never went past 9kb/sec and was at 1kbps, or less, most of the time but unfortunately, or maybe fortunately given the previous comment here, every time it failed to get past a 20%. Considering it is only 410Mb this is not very good. Cannot remember when the last time was that a distribution was so slow, or failed, to download.

disappointment is not the word! I am not sure what the developers were thinking when they made this Linux version, but I think the zest went from production team in terms of seriously making something that customers/users would be happy to work with. I tried to install several time with no luck! And I think if it actually did install, then it wouldn't be long before it crashed! Dont waste your time on this, there are plenty of other lite Linux OS versions out there which are tonns more reliable!

great for students. Easy to use once customized and may need some fixing. Good instructions on the net. I'm using it on a netbook.

Downloaded twice and wasted 2 CDs despite MD5 being good.

    This distribution Will not install.

It apparently has poor wireless card support

Don't waste your time or download quota!

A total waste of time though I think the concept is good.
