Have not been able to log on. after entering name and password I get the command "larry@ubuntu1:~$" without the quote marks. I have no idea what to enter there. I have never used Linux before. I would like to start using it. i have installed it on an old computer to learn it before putting it on my other computers. any help would be appreciated.

Features are lacking due to the nature of the distribution but can easily be installed using apt-get to get exactly what you want. Mine is an ssh / samba server running conky and firefox

Little tip to change desktop wallpaper
Right click icon on desktop -> set backdrop then open file browser and drag and drop. No need to edit ~/.fluxbox/init or startup scripts

on my AM2 Semperon 3000 1Gb RAM it boots much faster then KDE (When I had KUbuntu)

I strongly reccommend this distro
