The howto for this piece of crap is enough to make you cry. It isn't hard to see why very few use it.

It is the best clone tool I have tried so far. fast and easy to use!

I love Clonezilla and use it regularly to create backups of my partitions. I do this via LiveCD. I would like to know if I can incorporate Clonezilla onto a "USB Linux" so that I don't need to use the Clonezilla LiveCD. Any help is much appreciated. Best Regards.

I got it up and running backing Ubuntu server and xpsp3 on ntfs on two different laptops to a 3rd laptop running Ubuntu 10 through samba in about 10 minutes. I guess the average sysadmin can use this easily. The average noob would be lost using this tool. It's not for rookies.

However it is free and seems to be very flexible and seems to work ok. I've yet to do a *restore* with it, which is always the acid-test. But it's great to have a good free "free" option besides Ghost. That's 1-9, 10 is yet to come.

Very good, simple and usefull tool for different OS clonning. I use only Clonezilla now.

I am a software engineer, mostly on the Microsoft Windows side of the world. I’ve dabbled with Linux (Debian mostly) and at least understand how Linux/UNIX deal with disk devices, file systems and how they are mounted. I previously used “Trinity Rescue Kit” to do my Microsoft NT/2003 file system backups and restores, but I find Clonezilla much easier.

For any cloning tool, you really should have some basic understanding (high level) of disks, partitions, boot records, and how to use the Windows XP recovery console if you intend to use Clonezilla or any disk/partition back-up tool with the Microsoft operating systems.

That being said, I recently had a Windows XP Dell laptop that was configured with four separate partitions – the Dell diagnostic FAT partition, XP NTFS, and then Debian LINUX on the other two. I wanted to move all of them to a bigger SATA drive as I needed more space. Clonezilla did the job.

This is a fantistic program. Worked great for a non-LinuGeek simpleton like me! Of course, it helps if you RTFM. I had to move Windows XP off a disk drive that was getting too small (30GB) to a larger disk. It transferred and was up in running in no time. Thank you Steven Shiau.

This is just another example of LinuGeek that is unfit for the brave new world of Easily understood GUI. It is a dense tool that requires many years of LinuGeek command line understanding and wierd input. It will never amount to anything but a toy for the LinuBoy util its developers come out tof their little linux clubhouse and develop something that speaks to people in the English that all people use and understand - not just the LinuGeeks.

I tried many of the other freeware programs and this was the only one that worked with my Vista Home Premium installation.
The others resulted in a non-booting drive while restore using Clonezilla booted with no problem!
I upgrade the drive on my laptop from 120 to 320gb. I did have to use Easeus Partition Master afterward to expand the partition.
Worked great for me.

add option to make one big .iso file to fit a dvd
instead of only a .img file.....thank you?....if you add this feature I will use Clonezilla a lot and recommend it to others.

-this can clone 1 hd into 20 pc machines at same time ? how is the procedure ... i put the pcs into my lan and then run what soft or a have to have 20 cd iso images or how can i do for that work thanks....

note : i dont think so this tool only clone ono on one hd i thinks is created for clone 1 pc machine to 20 pc machine at the same time...

I have to clone two identical HDDs.
I looked at dozens of softwares but Clonezilla was the worst of all.

Selecting source/target: HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO CHOSE if the drives are the same model? You are displaying only the model and nothing else!!! Which one is sda and sdb???
Other softwares are able to display the serial numbers of the drives.
