I tried this on a live USB made with unetbootin. My first reaction upon seeing it fly on a Lenovo S100 was like... Wooow. Snappy, simple, bleeding edge, and unexpectedly stable.

Why make things complicated? To boot from USB, just do
#dd if=archbang-xx.iso of=/dev/sdb
where sdb is your usb stick. Then reboot...

perfect hybrid of crunchbang and archlinux. uses the excellent packer as package manager with AUR enabled. love it!

An excellent arch linux distro that boots fast and has many great features!

Simple USB install:

using 1GB or more fat32 usb with syslinux 3.71 or higher installed

extract iso to a folder by using Isomaster or mounting iso as root
and copying to empty folder.

mkdir archbangusb
mkdir iso

mount -o loop archbang-2.00-RC2-i686.iso iso

cp -a iso/* archbangusb
umount iso

go into archbangusb folder
into boot foldeer
Now, rename isolinux folder to syslinux; rename isolinux.cfg to syslinux.cfg

Open syslinux.cfg with text editor and give full path with forward slash for these entries

display my-arch.msg
default vesamenu.c32
MENU BACKGROUND bkgd.jpg
kernel memtest

change those entries to

display /boot/syslinux/my-arch.msg
default vesamenu.c32
MENU BACKGROUND bkgd.jpg
kernel memtest

Now, using Gparted label the usb with this name

ARCH_201004

open gparted with usb unmounted but plugged in

goto top left gparted menu
to Gparted, Devices and find your usb device
right click the line where device is listed and choose "label"
label it as above

then reboot into archbang rc2 off usb
