Rubyripper For Linux

Rubyripper is an open source, secure, cross-platform and completely free graphical software implemented in Ruby and designed from the offset to act as an Audio-CD ripper for Linux and Mac OS X operating systems.

The application has been engineered in such a way that it will try to deliver a secure Audio-CD ripping process by ripping the same track multiple times and correcting various differences that appear. It supports converting Audio-CDs to MP3, FLAC or OGG file formats.

It makes use of various open source applications for rip, encode and normalize the audio tracks from your Audio-CDs, including cdparanoia, cdrdao, FLAC, LAME, mp3gain, vorbis-tools, vorbisgain, and wavegain.

The application’s graphical user interface is simple, basic and intuitive, that even a 7 year old can use it to rip Audio-CDs. In general it looks like any other Audio-CD ripping tool, except for the fact that it uses tabs to allow the user to navigate between its settings and the main interface.

Of course, this means that everything is under your nose, so you can immediately modify an option before attempting to start the ripping process. Using CDDB (The Compact Disc Database), the application will automatically fill the artist, genre, album, year and track names fields.

From the Codecs tab, you can choose an encoding method (FLAC, Ogg Vorbis, Wav and MP3), specify a custom command for the encoding process, as well as to optionally enable generation of a m3u playlist or threaded encoding for faster ripping.

As of March 10, 2014, this project has been discontinued and it is no longer maintained. If you decide to use it, do not expect any updates from the developer. Because of this, it has been archived for historical references purposes only.
