MCNLive For Linux

MCNLive is an open source project that delivers a desktop-oriented live Linux operating system based on Mandriva and built around the beautiful and productive KDE graphical desktop environment.

This Mandriva-based operating system is available for download as a dual-arch and hybrid Live CD ISO image that fits on a CD disc. It’s bootable on both 32-bit and 64-bit computers. The user must write the ISO image on a blank CD disc or a USB flash drive in order to boot it from the BIOS of a PC.

The Live CD boot menu offers advanced options, such as the ability to copy the contents of the ISO image to RAM and run the operating system from there, ejecting the bootable medium, the ability to use a local swap partition in case the computer runs low on memory.

It is possible to boot the live system in normal mode without mounting local partitions, boot an existing operating system that is currently installed on the first disk drive detected by the BIOS, as well as to boot the live system in safe graphics mode using the VESA driver.

The distribution is built around the KDE4 graphical interface, which provides users with a user-friendly, responsive, modern and productive desktop environment. It comprises of a single taskbar, which will help users to easily navigate the main menu and browse installed apps, interact with running programs, as well as to access essential system functions.

Default applications include the SMPlayer video player, Mozilla Firefox and Konqueror web browsers, TVtime television viewer, K3b CD/DVD burning software, KWrite text editor, Klipper clipboard manager, Gwenview image viewer and Okular document viewer.
