Gramps For Linux

Gramps (Genealogical Research and Analysis Management Programming System) is an open source, freely distributed and cross-platform graphical application that has been designed to be used for genealogical tasks and genealogical inquiries.

The software is complex, easy to install, easy to use and feature-rich, supported on all mainstream operating systems. Some of its highlights are presented in the next section at a glance.

The software allows users to edit, store and research genealogical data quickly and easily. It features gramplets, people, relationships, families, pedigree, ancestry, events, places, geography, sources, citations, repositories, media, and notes.

The Gramplets component allows you to monitor the progress of your research through various widgets that provide fast analysis of your data. On the Relationships module you can view a summary of the active person’s siblings, children, parents and spouses.

The Families module ensure that you will have quick access to a list of every family group, including relationship status, parent names or marriage dates. The Ancestry module offers a graphic representation of the active person’s ancestry.

A complete list of all images and videos added on the program can be viewed via the Media module of the application, which also lets you to preview all text notes included in your records through the Notes function.
