APODIO For Linux

APODIO is a completely free and open-source distribution of Linux derived from the Ubuntu operating system and designed from the ground up to be used for producing and distributing multimedia files, such as video clips and audio tracks.

The APODIO OS is available for download as a single, dual-arch Live DVD ISO image of approximately 4GB in size. It is a hybrid image that can be written to either a USB thumb drive or a DVD disc, and supports both 32-bit and 64-bit hardware platforms, even though we strongly advise our users to install it on modern, high-end 64-bit machines only.

Unfortunately, the boot options are hard to read when booting the Live DVD image from the BIOS of a PC, as it uses black & white text on a black & white background, so it is best to wait ten seconds for the live system to start. However, it will allow you to start the installer directly, run a memory test, boot the local drive or start the live environment in safe graphics mode.

The default graphical desktop environment of APODIO is the lightweight Xfce, which comprises of a taskbar located on the upper side of the screen and a dock (applications launcher) on the bottom edge of the screen.

As mentioned, the main emphasis is on multimedia production, which means that the distro includes a wide range of multimedia-oriented apps, among which we can mention Mixxx, Audacity, Hydrogen, Ardour, Rosegarden, Qtractor, MusE, Kdenlive, Cinelerra, PiTiVi, OpenShot and Kino.
