New in antiX MEPIS M11 (May 3, 2011)

  • Just over a year since the release of antiX-M8.5, the antiX-team are pleased to announce that antiX MEPIS 11 'Jayaben Desai' - a fast, light, very flexible and complete desktop and livecd based on Debian Testing and SimplyMEPIS - is now available in full, base and core versions (for 686 and 486 kernel all using hybridiso). This release defaults to a fully customised icewm-Rox desktop (fluxbox, wmii and dwm are also installed) using a SimplyMEPIS 2.6.36-4 kernel, our own assistants to help configuration, and the usual range of applications for desktop use. Latest Iceape (2.0.13-1) for internet needs, Abiword (2.8.6) and gnumeric (1.10.14) for office use, qmmp and goggles music manager (0.12.1) for audio, gxine, mplayer and gnome-mplayer for video, gppp (dial-up), wicd (1.7), umt-panel2 (from aptosid) for GPRS/UMTS/3G and ceni (2.21) for network connection, pidgin (2.7.11) for chat. Many cli apps are also included such as Alpine for email, moc for audio, elinks for browsing, abcde and ripit for cd ripping and much more. Features include a cli-installer script for fast and light install, live with persistence, 'remaster on the fly', new boot cheatcodes for setting dpi and desktop windows manager with or without icons, antix2usb to easily install to usb stick. Many languages are fully supported out of the box with the language chosen at live CD boot carrying over to install. Chinese, Japanese and Korean fonts are included as well as ibus in the full version.

New in antiX MEPIS 8.2 (Jul 25, 2009)

  • Anti announced "On behalf of the antiX-team I am proud to announce that antiX MEPIS 8.2 is a fast, light, flexible and complete desktop and livecd based on SimplyMEPIS and Debian Testing is now available in full and base versions. This release defaults to a fully customised icewm desktop (fluxbox is also installed) using a SimplyMEPIS 2.6.27-25 kernel and tweaked MEPIS Assistants for better compatibility in antiX."
  • 10 languages are fully supported out of the box with the language chosen at live CD boot carrying over to install. Boot time should be faster, particularly if the 'Faster' option is chosen at livecd boot menu and RAM usage low. antiX-Control Centre has been further improved, new scripts for screenshots, phonebook, mouse configuration have been added. As well as including the usual applications such as iceweasel 3.0.11 available in 11 languages, pidgin 2.5.8, abiword 2.6.8, gnumeric 1.9.9, rox-filer 2.9 and claws-mail 3.5, antiX-M8.2 also includes a meta-installer, an updated ceni and wicd(1.6.1) for wired/wireless connections, UMTSmon - a simple connect program for users using 3g usb modems, antiX-M8.2 uses X.org 7.4, auto-login with latest SLiM, smxi, inxi, svmi scripts from h2, and Dillo 2.1-1. New apps include: gecko-mediaplayer, gnome-mplayer, alpine, alsaplayer, cheese, antix2usb script and many more.

New in antiX MEPIS 8.2 Test 1 (Jun 22, 2009)

  • Public Test1 comes with the latest upgrades from MEPIS and Debian Testing, including Xorg1.6, 2.6.27-25-686 MEPIS kernel, iceweasel 3.0.11, Abiword 2.6.8-5, pidgin 2.5 and slightly adapted MEPIS tools for better use in antiX. And much, much more.
  • Localisation is much improved, 10 languages are fully supported OOTB. Language chosen at livecd boot will carry over to install. Boot time should be faster particularly if the Faster option is chosen at boot menu.
  • There are major change in antiX control centre design. system-config-printer replaced with gtklp meta-installer allows for install of kde4, gtkam added, and cheese (webcam) added. mozilla-mplayer is with gecko-mediaplayer.

New in antiX MEPIS 8.0 (Feb 14, 2009)

  • The antiX team is proud to announce that antiX MEPIS 8 - a fast and light complete desktop and live CD based on SimplyMEPIS and Debian Testing, with a little bit of sidux - is now available at MEPIS mirrors. This release defaults to a fully customised IceWM desktop (Fluxbox is also installed). In addition to the SimplyMEPIS 8.0 foundation with its 2.6.27 kernel and assistants, antiX has an improved antiX Control Centre, new scripts for screenshots, and phonebook. There are improved and extended themes and artwork for IceWM and Fluxbox. Localisation is much improved in this version. As well as including usual applications such as Iceweasel 3.0.6, Pidgin 2.4, AbiWord 2.6.4 and Gnumeric 1.8.3, antiX 8 also includes the sidux meta-installer, an updated ceni and wicd for wired and wireless connections, UMTSmon - a simple connect program for users using 3G USB modems....
