  • This is a bugfix release fixing a security issue allowing unregistered users some access under some circumstances. We recommend anyone using XWiki 5.0+ to upgrade to it, especially if your wiki is a public wiki.

New in XWiki 5.4 Milestone 1 (Jan 10, 2014)

  • This is an improvement and stability release for things started during the 5.x cycle. In details this release includes 38 bugfixes and 16 improvements and small new features.

New in XWiki 5.3 (Dec 14, 2013)

  • This release comes with a new syntax guide and brings improvements to the Solr search, multi-wiki support and the Wiki Stream module. You can now choose the user scope (local, global or both) and also create wiki templates from the wiki creation wizard. The Wiki Stream can be used to import large XARs and content from the Confluence wiki. The Solr search UI has been polished: we added new facets and improved the results display. The Solr index has been modified to support the search for documents matching specific values in multiple object properties and attachments. As a consequence you can now facet and sort the search results based on property values and attachment meta data. A lot of bug fixes (115) and many improvements (55) complete this release and make it worth trying.

New in XWiki 5.3 RC1 (Dec 9, 2013)

  • This is mostly a stabilization release leading to XWiki 5.3 final and it brings a few small improvements to the Solr search UI and the ability to import large XARs using the WikiStream framework. The Solr index has been modified to support the search for documents matching specific values in multiple object properties. As a consequence you can now facet and sort the search results based on property values. Besides this the new release includes 38 bug fixes and 14 small improvements.

New in XWiki 5.3 Milestone 2 (Nov 21, 2013)

  • This release comes with a new syntax quide, an improved faceted search and the ability to import content from Confluence wiki. Also, the wiki creation wizard has now support for creating wiki templates and for choosing the user scope (local, global or both). This release also includes a lot of bug fixes (33) and a few improvements (19) so you should definitely check it out.

New in XWiki 5.3 Milestone 1 (Oct 28, 2013)

  • This is more a developer oriented release with new Extension Manager APIs, an XWiki Enterprise Maven Archetype, XAR plugin improvements and fold observation events but it also has a number of bug fixes (36) and improvements (22) that the users will appreciate.

New in XWiki 5.2 (Oct 8, 2013)

  • This release comes with multiwiki support enabled by default: users are able to create new wikis without the need to install additional extensions. This is possible because the Workspace Application has been integrated in XWiki Enterprise. We stopped the support for XWiki Enterprise Manager as a consequence. Apart from this, the new release brings a Solr-based live search (to replace the one based on Lucene) and the ability to track active XWiki installs. The Distribution Wizard has a new step to upgrade all wikis. Developers will be interested by the new Wiki Stream framework which can already be used to export large wikis in XAR format. A lot of bug fixes (135) and many improvements (50) complete this release and make it worth trying.

  • This is mostly a stabilization release leading to XWiki 5.2 final and it brings a new "Home" top level menu (available when there is more than one wiki) and a new Distribution Wizard step to upgrade all wikis. The WikiStream framework has been improved and now can be used to export large wikis in XAR format. Besides this the new release includes 49 bug fixes and 16 small improvements.

  • This release comes with Solr search enabled by default. The search UI has been redesigned and the search backend has been greatly improved. A new Menu application is now avaible to help you create navigation menus that ca be placed after the header or in a side panel. Beside this, a lot of bug fixes (124) and small improvements (53) make this release worth trying.

  • This is mostly a stabilization release leading to XWiki 5.1 and it brings Sorl search improvements and bug fixes as we plan to make Solr the default search engine in 5.1 final. There is also a new Menu Application in platform (not bundled by default) to help you create navigation menus.

  • This is the first bugfix release for the 3.5 series, and, since 3.5 is the final major release in the 3.x cycle, a bugfix release for the whole 3.x cycle.
  • The main focus has been on quality assurance, improving the compatibility with various database systems, and polishing the new sheet mechanism, the new extension manager, the skin, the WYSIWYG, and other parts of the XWiki platform.

  • New color themes:
  • XWiki Enterprise 3.4 comes with a new default color theme and other three (Mint, Ruby and Dusk) that you can choose from. All four use CSS3 rules and new color variables in order to be able to have gradients. All color themes that were previously available are now considered deprecated and have been published as extensions: Default, Bordo, Nature, BlueSky, Inner Dark, Nightfall and Peach.
  • This means that custom build color themes or skins build on top of Colibri may not be compatible with the recent changes when doing an upgrade.
  • In order to solve this problem you have two solutions: adjust your custom color themes with the new changes or don't upgrade the following wiki pages when upgrading the XAR: ColorThemes.DefaultColorTheme and XWiki.AdminSheet and the following CSS files from Colibri skin: colibri.css and ie-all.css.
  • XWiki Syntax 2.1 is the default page syntax:
  • Even though the XWiki Syntax 2.1 has been available for a long time already, it was marked experimental. We've now made it final which means no more changes will be brought to the XWiki Syntax 2.1 (any new change will be made in a new XWiki Syntax 2.2).
  • What it also means is that when you create a new page from now on, it'll be created in XWiki Syntax 2.1 syntax by default (you can still choose another syntax using the Syntax chooser in edit mode, see Page Editing).
