  • Adding new movie sequence type:
  • Possibility of including a video clip besides the titles and the photos
  • Possibility of adjusting the positions of the beginning and of the end to select only a part of a video clip

  • Change of IDV file format: Now, filenames are relative to the name of the save file project file. So, if the project file (.idv ) is positioned in the same directory as the images, it becomes possible to move and\or to rename the folder containing photos and project file. Other advantage, a file created under Linux can be opened under Windows and conversely.
  • Sinusoidal speed for the mobile shots:
  • Change in the calculation of the speed during the depiction of the mobile shots. Now, Ken Burns effects are based on 1/4 of Sine allowing a soft acceleration (up to a doubling with regard to the muzzle velocity) then a soft deceleration till the end of the effect.

  • Remove of useless calculations during static shots - earnings about 30 % of time

  • Remove of the XML parsing in every frame - earnings about 15% à 20% of time

New in Videoporama 0.8 (Jul 25, 2010)

  • rom this release, beside the improvements on the software itself, we wanted to make it more easy to install. For this reason, beside the source package (distutils), a pre-compiled package for Debian / Ubuntu (.deb) is also available as well as 2 differents installer for windows platforms (Tested on WinXP and Win7). The forum is still available to have some help. We wish that the new functionnalities in this release will be appreciated.

New in Videoporama 0.7.6 (Jul 15, 2009)

  • This version is usable on POSIX system. Almost on Win32 system but there is somemore correction to do (in few days).

  • The ability to preview a slideshow project before encoding it (MPlayer is needed).

New in Videoporama 0.7 (Jan 30, 2009)

  • The Ken Burns effect was added. The interface was improved and resized.
  • New export formats were added: FLV and H264 AVC.
  • New resolutions are possible for exporting: Web (384x288), PAL/SECAM (720x576), NTSC (720x480), HD 720 (1280x720), and HD 1080 (1920x1080).
  • FFmpeg is used to encode images to video format, so libDV and DVgrab are no longer needed.
  • PIL is used instead of ImageMagick for transitions and image manipulation.
  • The encoding process is much faster.
  • The Windows version is in beta status.
  • Bugfixes and lots of code improvements were done.

  • A bug where the encoding process was sometimes interrupted before the end, and more frequently with DVD encoding format was fixed.
  • The code was changed for compliance with Python 2.6 and future versions.
