  • Package contains US 1040 Federal taxes, Schedules A, B, C, D, and forms 8949, all updated for the 2014 tax-year. Also includes updated State-Tax versions for several of the largest states: CA, NY, MA, VA, OH, NC, NJ, and PA.

New in Open Tax Solver 11.02 (Feb 13, 2014)

  • A new GUI for OTS was posted for downloading.
  • The new GUI is based on Gtk, which offers an improved look and feel.
  • It is now set as the default user interface in the regular OTS distribution package for Linux and Microsoft users.
  • The older GUI is still included in case there are any problems with the new one.
  • A user feedback survey was added to the webpage.
  • The updated tax programs for this year remain stable.

New in Open Tax Solver 11.01 (Feb 1, 2014)

  • A fix was made for Line 27 of the US 1040 Qualified Dividends and Capital Gain Tax Worksheet in the US-1040 program.
  • Additionally, some tool-tips, or hover-notes, were added in the OTS-GUI to provide hints about some of the button functions.

New in Open Tax Solver 9.01 (Feb 25, 2012)

  • This version includes a fix in line 42 of the US Federal 1040 program, as well as additional worksheet printouts.
  • Some further improvements have been made to the GUI appearance, and additional comments have been added on the 1040 template form.
  • The comments indicate which boxes on W-2 form the line values should come from.

New in Open Tax Solver 8.07 (Jan 8, 2012)

  • This is a minor update on last year's (tax-year 2010) US 1040.
  • It includes additional printouts in the Carry-over worksheet, and a fix on line 6 of Schedule-L.
  • The new 2011 version of OTS for this year is undergoing testing and is expected to be released next week.

New in Open Tax Solver 8.01 (Jan 18, 2011)

  • This is the initial version for the 2010 tax year.
  • It contains US1040, with schedules A, B, C, D, and new this year, schedule L.
  • It also contains updated versions for States CA, VA, OH, NC, NJ, and PA.
  • Some further improvements were made to the GUI.
  • Updates for MA and NY will be posted soon.

  • This release also contains the US Federal and California solvers, which had been previously updated.
