Intel Linux Graphics Changelog

What's new in Intel Linux Graphics 12.07

Jul 24, 2012
  • RC6 support for Sandy Bridge and Ivy bridge, support for Ivy Bridge GT2 server, general performance improvements and many bug fixes. Experimental support for the new SNA and Glamor 2D acceleration architectures.
  • Kernel:
  • RC6 support is enabled by default on Sandy Bridge and Ivy Bridge, which will result in power savings and some performance improvements.
  • Ivy Bridge GT2 server is now supported by the driver.
  • Many bug fixes in the display code.
  • Support for more video modes, including interlaced modes.
  • General performance improvements.
  • 2D Driver:
  • Many bug fixes and stability improvements.
  • Optional support for the new SNA and Glamor acceleration architectures. SNA is a continuation of the traditional model and tries to exploit the full limits of the available hardware, allowing great performance improvements. Glamor is an alternative that implements the 2D functionality using the OpenGL 3D library. Support for these new architectures is still considered experimental, so they need to be compiled and enabled through the xorg.conf option "AccelMethod".
  • 3D Driver:
  • The Mesa driver includes a big number of bug fixes, resulting in stability improvements for the OpenGL 3.0 support added in the previous release.
  • Major known issues:
  • It is known that some of the new video modes supported might not work on some monitors.
  • Validation hardware:
  • This release was validated on the following hardware, and part of the test results are published at here:
