  • The big news with this release is the added ability to boot the live image on uEFI firmware computers, while maintaining boot ability on traditional PC/BIOS computers. This means that GParted Live can now boot on newer Windows 8 computers.
  • In addition to supporting uEFI firmware, two more GNU/Linux operating system images have been released: i686-PAE (Physical Address Extension) and AMD64 (X86-64). These new images permit addressing more than 4 gigabytes of RAM, and enable using multiple processor cores.

  • This release is a bugs fixed release with some minor updates.
  • Based on Debian lenny on Nov/27/2008. Kernel 2.6.26-10 is used now.

  • Instead of entering X automatically, we can choose to configure xorg.conf first.

  • 3 boot parameters were added: gl_lang, gl_kbd, and gl_batch. Example: "gl_lang=en_US gl_kbd=NONE gl_batch" will use en_US.UTF-8 locale, do nothing about keyboard mapping change, and with gl_batch, gparted live won't wait for entering key before enter X.
  • VGA 1024x768 is used for framebuffer when booting.
  • The icon of USB on desktop was removed since it does not fit the way USB flash drive was made.
