  • This version can now also bind to a specific IP address (useful for e.g. IPv6 with privacy extensions enabled).

  • This version sanitizes user interface logic.
  • A crash in /LIST has been fixed.
  • The user menu now automatically retrieves full names.
  • Joining a channel from the list shows the topics as well. DCC did not work.
  • This release can let the channel list be sorted.
  • Improved search in channel and user input scrollback windows.

  • This version rewrites IRC protocol handling (much more stable).
  • Nicks can now be aligned in a column.
  • You can now add a marker line to see where you left off (this is also automatic when changing channels).

  • You can now invoke an external program/script when there's a nick-hit.
  • A "headlines" window has been added.

  • This release removes a couple of Linux-isms, so F-IRC should now also compile on other UNIX operating systems (tested on OpenBSD).
  • There are also a couple of bugfixes.

  • You can now easily enter ASCII values under 32 (used for underline, bold, reverse).
  • Better support for 256 colour terminals was implemented.
  • There were all kinds of tweaks and enhancements.

  • Colors (color-scheme) can now be configured (via the configuration file or from within the application itself).
  • Duplicate nicks on an IRC server are now handled more gracefully.

New in F-IRC 1.17 (Oct 11, 2013)

  • When entering a line (when, e.g., kicking a user), f-irc now has full line editing capabilities.
  • Configuration parameters can now also be configured from within the program (F8).
  • This release implements the ^V and ^_ escapes which set inverse video and underline, and fixes the implementation of the "INVITE" IRC command.

  • An "underline" switch was implemented.
  • ^T now finally works (jump to previous window).
  • ^R switches are less jumpy.
  • ^C no longer quits immediately, but asks you if you want to.
  • A pop-up now displays the reason you were kicked from a channel.

  • Fixes a bug where a window resize could corrupt the input line (his could also trigger a crash).

  • Fixes bugs found in bij Coverity.

  • Colors finally fixed. Stability fixes.
  • Can now automatically log parts of chats to a file, selecting them with regular expressions.
  • Can now get colors per nick (default disabled).

  • This version fixes garbled colors and a corrupt input line which could cause crashes.

  • Can now save any configuration changes.
  • A fix for auto-(re-)join. Improved online help. IRC protocol fixes.
  • Meta-messages (joins, quits, etc.) can now be selectively disabled.
  • User-friendly popups have been added for when an action fails, as the error messages in the status window may be overlooked.
