What's new in CAELinux 2013

Mar 10, 2014
  • CAELinux 2013 is based on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS 64-bit distribution and contains a unique suite of open source simulation tools for FEA, CFD or multiphysics simulation but also a large panel of other engineering software for CAD-CAM & 3D printing, electronics, mathematics & programming . CAELinux 2013 represents a complete rebuild of the distribution with up-to-date software for a better support of modern hardware and a significantly enhanced ease of use, and we hope that you will enjoy it.
  • This release is available in the form of an liveDVD ISO image for AMD/Intel 64 bit CPUs that can be burned on a DVD or installed on a USB key for "mobile" use and testing and then installed on hard-disk for best performance. A virtual machine image for use on Amazon EC2 (standard and cluster instances) is also available.

New in CAELinux 2010 (Sep 6, 2010)

  • This release has been completely rebuilt.
  • It is based on Ubuntu 10.04 LTS AMD64.
  • The FEA suite Salome-Meca has been upgraded to version 2010.1, and a version of Code-Aster 10.1 with MPI support is included.
  • It also includes updated versions of the CFD solvers OpenFOAM 1.7.0 and Code-Saturne 2.0rc1.
  • Other simulation codes like Elmer FEM, Impact, Gerris, Fenics, and Calculix have also been upgraded to their latest versions.
  • The live DVD also contains numerous updated CAD, pre/post processors and meshers like Paraview, GMSH, Netgen, Engrid, Discretizer, Tetgen, VoxelMesher, FreeCAD, QCAD, and Meshlab.

New in CAELinux 2009 (Jun 22, 2009)

  • CAELinux 2009 is built on the basis of Ubuntu 8.04 LTS 64bit distribution with the latest updates and should support the most recent hardwares / chipset for one of the best compatibility and ease of use in the Linux world. It comes with a kernel in version 2.6.24-24 with support for 64 bit memory addressing and multiple CPUs.
  • Additionnally, CAELinux 2009 contains the new release of the GPL Salome_Meca 2009 package developed by EDF (32bit) integrated with an optimized 64bit installation of Code-Aster STA 9.4 with OpenMP support. This updated package represents the fusion of a powerfull Code-Aster STA9.4 finite element solver and the Salome v4.1.4 CAD/Pre/Post GUI and allows to run a complete FEA study directly from the SALOME graphical user interface.
  • CAELinux 2009 also continues to integrate great open source CFD software like Code-Saturne 1.4 and OpenFOAM 1.5 that can be both interfaced with numerous pre processing tools like Salome, GMSH, Netgen, and the brand new CFD oriented mesher enGrid 1.0. With these software, Open-Source FEA & CFD is continuing its progression towards ease of use and parallel computing power to get closer to commercial FEA & CFD codes!
