- This release adds many new features and challenging play modes including Quad N-Back, Dual Audio N-Back, Crab N-Back, and multi-stimulus modes. Multiple user profiles are now supported.
New in Brain Workshop 4.4 (Jan 18, 2009)
- This release fixes a few bugs and adds some new configuration options.
- Novice Mode was renamed to Jaeggi Mode.
- The data and res directories can now be specified on the command line using the --datadir and --resdir parameters.
New in Brain Workshop 4.3 (Nov 16, 2008)
- Variable n-back levels can be used with any game mode.
- Sounds for the auditory n-back task can be selected by pressing S.
- New Morse Code sounds can be used with any n-back mode.
New in Brain Workshop 4.22 (Nov 9, 2008)
- This release provides a new title screen.
- Launching in Novice Mode will no longer cause a crash.
- The date axis of the progress graph will no longer skip days, and data points are now indicated with a dot.
- The num pad should now work properly with Arithmetic N-Back modes.
- Difficulty of Dual Variable N-Back has been increased slightly.
New in Brain Workshop 4.2 (Nov 2, 2008)
- This release adds single n-back modes for younger children and those who may find dual n-back too challenging.
- It also adds a new challenge mode, Dual Variable N-Back.
- The configuration file is no longer included in the distribution, so your old settings won't get overwritten.
- OpenAL is now the default sound driver on Linux. (Try installing package python-openal if you're having sound problems.)
- The pyglet library no longer needs to be installed separately.
New in Brain Workshop 4.11 (Oct 30, 2008)
- This release fixes the level decrease threshold in Novice mode.
- A configuration option is now available to use the pre-4.1 flat squares.
- There are two changes to Novice Mode to eliminate the last of the differences compared to the original study protocol: exactly 6 position and 6 audio matches are now generated each session; and the score for the session is set as the lowest of the two individual modality scores (visual and audio).
New in Brain Workshop 4.1 (Oct 26, 2008)
- The squares in Dual and Triple N-Back have a new look.
- Individual scores for each input category (position, sound, etc.) are shown in the graph screen.
- New piano sounds are available in the configuration file to test your tonal memory.
New in Brain Workshop 4.04 (Oct 20, 2008)
- Added the division operation to the Arithmetic N-Back modes. Use the period key '.' to insert a decimal point. Each of the operations (add, subtract, multiply, divide) can be turned off or on in any combination in the config file.
- Fixed a bug where if you had just advanced to a new level and quit BW, the next time you restarted you would be back at the previous level.
- Added config option to play music in Manual mode.
