Xfce Power Manager is an open source graphical software designed to act as a standalone power manager utility for the lightweight Xfce desktop environment. It is the perfect utility to keep the power sources of your computer under control at all times. The truth is that Xfce Power Manager mostly used for saving power on laptops.

With Xfce Power Manager, end-users will be able to change CPU frequency, monitor the battery of their laptops and netbooks, monitor DPMS settings, set up a power saving profile for two different modes “on AC power” or “on battery power,” control the action of the LID, control the hibernate and suspend functions, control the shutdown and sleep switches, as well as to control the LCD’s brightness.

Xfce and Linux developers, should be interesting in the technical part of the Xfce Power Manager project, as it offers a collection of Freedesktop-compliant DBus interfaces, which can be used to inform other apps about the current power levels of your computer, so that they can reduce their power consumption.

Xfce Power Manager is a standalone graphical application, written with the help of the GTK+ GUI toolkit. In order for it to run as expected, the Glib 2.30 or higher, DBus 1.1 or higher, DBus glib 0.84 or higher, libxfce4ui 4.10.0 or later, libxfce4util 4.10.0 or later, libnotify 0.4.1 or higher, xfconf 4.10.0 or higher, libxfce4panel 4.10.0 or higher (needed for the Xfce Panel applet), lxpanel 0.5.6 or higher (needed for the LXPanel applet), XRandR 1.2.0 or later, DPMS X11 extension, UPower 0.9.7 or higher, Polkit 0.91 or later, Consolekit and LoginD/SystemD must be installed.
