ptSCP is a GUI front-end to scp and ssh. It provides an easy way to transfer files back and forth between the local machine and a remote host. Furthermore, ptSCP allows the user to perform a number of basic file operations on both local and remote files and directories.

To "connect" to a server, run ptSCP and click on the "connect" button. Enter your hostname and username. At that point you should see a listing of your home directory on the remote host. Since scp is stateless, you are never really "connected". To "disconnect" simply close the window. To "connect" to another host click on the "connect" button again.

To transfer files, select a file in either the local or remote window and use the use the transfer buttons "" to copy files. Directories are copied recursively and multiple files may be selected.

To change directories, either type the new directory in the directory field at the top or the file lists or double-click on any directory (or symbolic link to a directory) in either file list.

To access a menu of file operations, right-button click on any file in either file list.
