pastebinit is an open source command-line software written in Python and designed to allow users to easily and quickly send any file they want to a pastebin service of their choice directly from the Linux Terminal. The software outputs a URL after the file is sent.
At the moment it supports the a wide range of pastebin services, including sprunge.us, pastie.org, paste.ubuntu.org.cn, fpaste.org, pb.daviey.com, slexy.org, paste.ubuntu.com, paste.kde.org, stikked.com, p.defau.lt, paste.debian.net, cxg.de, paste2.org, yourpaste.net, and pastebin.com.
Various command-line options are implemented into this program, which can be viewed at a glance by running the ‘./pastebinit --help’ command in a terminal emulator. Among these, we can mention the ability to add the author’s name (default is your UNIX username), support for specifying a pastebin service to use (default is http://pastebin.com), as well as to specify the format of the paste (default is ‘text’).
The program also allows users to list all supported pastebin services, specify login credential if required (username and password), specify the title of the paste (default is blank), specify a Jabber ID for receiving notifications, specify the parent posts ID, which default to none, and support for specifying the permatag for all versions of a post (default is blank).
pastebinit is one of the most easy to use command-line applications, as it doesn’t require any installation. All you have to do to use the program is to download the latest version from Softpedia, save the package on a location of your choice, unpack it and open a terminal emulator. Then, navigate to the location of the extracted archive files with the ‘cd’ command and use the program by running the ‘./pastebin’ command followed by an option, as described above.
